MHT Technologies Evolves Their Senior Leadership Team

NEW YORK (Oct. 16, 2023) – MHT Technologies today announced several strategic leadership changes to guide the company into its next phase of innovation and growth. Earlier this year, MHT changed its company name, debuted a new corporate identity, and expanded its product development and consultative services to accommodate increasing demand for the lighting manufacturer’s proprietary smart-building technology platform, Inspextor.

CTO Moves into CEO Role

Akram “AK” Khalis, who joined the company as an engineer in 2012 and served most recently as chief technology officer, will become CEO, effective immediately. In his seven-year tenure as CTO, AK oversaw several pivotal projects, including the co-founding of Inspextor.

Khalis replaces retiring CEO Tom Spinelli who founded MHT in 2009, growing the company from induction-lighting fixture manufacturer to a smart-building technology firm. To ensure a smooth transfer of responsibilities, Spinelli will stay on board to assist Khalis through the leadership transition.

“AK has been a vital asset to the MHT Technologies team,” said Spinelli. “His commitment to excellence, deep technical expertise and dynamic leadership have been evident since Day 1. His appointment to CEO turns the page into an exciting new chapter for MHT.”

“Embarking on this new journey from CTO to CEO isn’t just a career transition, but a deepened commitment to the innovative spirit that MHT has had over its nearly 15 years of innovation,” said Khalis. “Drawing from our technological roots and the success of our flagship product, Inspextor, I’m eager to guide our team towards continued innovation and progress. The journey ahead is promising, and I’m committed to ensuring we meet our objectives efficiently and effectively to sustain and accelerate our growth.”

Engineer Promoted to Director of Technology

MHT also announced the promotion of Brad Oraw to director of technology. Oraw, a firmware engineer on the MHT product engineering team, will also assume his new role immediately. He brings over 10 years of progressive technology leadership to the role. According to Khalis, the position expands Oraw’s leadership responsibilities, capitalizes on his past experiences, and leans on him to an even greater degree for the strengthening of MHT’s technical foundation and innovative initiatives.

New National Sales Managers Comes Onboard

Accompanying the above changes is the addition of Steve Glenn as MHT national sales manager. Glenn has served as a sales leader in the lighting distribution industry since 1995, developing strong relationships with stakeholders across both commercial and residential lighting ecosystems. He will lead the market expansion into new territories and the development of MHT’s partner program. MHT’s sales team is innovating business development processes that support MHT’s deeper penetration into the smart-building automation marketplace.
